Situating next to a river, the project demonstrates the accommodation of various sceneries. When you look out of the floor-to-ceiling window, sometimes the river shines in the reflection of the sun or moves by the ripples of the rain. The city skyline interweaves with riverbank on this end, the rooms are lit by the sunlight of the day and the stars of the night. Having fewer walls means a more spacious shared area, which showcases the use of materials, colors, geometric or curved volumes. Each corner standing with its own features, the closer you look, the more you will find their uniqueness. The design of the corners coexists in a peaceful pace, showing not only the harmony also the fragments of memories only belong to the owner. You are here witnessing how a person defines a place as Home.

Be kind to Earth, reusing the materials Chih-Kang Chu questions the necessity of using new materials which could potentially create burdens for our planet. That is why the majority of the materials that are used in the expo came from recycling. On top of that, he carefully thinks through a recycling plan before the expo even starts. All the shopping carts, scaffolds, motors, trolley paths, rubber tires, and canvas fabrics will be displayed only for two weeks, which, to avoid wastefulness, each of them has been settled a part of the recycling program. The team hopes in the future Taiwan Design Expo, visitors can see not only the showcase of the arts but the presentation of organizing an expo from soup to nuts. A detail-oriented plan like this truly makes everyone feel proud of the MIT (Made in Taiwan) design. |
